Creating a New Stock Card
- The best way to create Stock Cards in bulk is via the Price Updates module. This will add the item with the List Cost, Barcode and Partcodes. If you are part of a Head Office, they will create any new cards for you. If you do need to create a card manually, you can do so from the Search option as you open Stock Cards. Click on New Card. This will ask if the item is being dispensed as a drug. I will select yes for this tutorial and I will show you the drug details a little later.
- A blank card is created, there is a Drug Information tab as we selected yes on the previous prompt. You will need to give this item a Name and a PLU, you can select F2 if you would like a system generated number. It is best to give the card as much information as possible, like your List and your Real Costs, any Departments or Sub-departments, along with any barcodes or supplier information you might have.
- When you have entered all the information on the card, you should also update the current Stock on Hand. Once saved, this card can now be used.
- Another option to create a new card is when you have a similar product selected, you can use the Copy Card function, found in File, Copy Stock Card. You will need to ensure that you update all of the Partcodes and Barcode information for the new card being created.
- For the Drug Information, when you are a LOTS Complete pharmacy, only items with a drug tab will appear in the Dispense part of the program. To be able to dispense the item correctly, we need to give it a Schedule (a number three or higher should be sufficient). We also need to give this an Indication. You can right-click in the Indication section and select Add Indication. You can name that Indication “General”. Click OK to save. This item can now be dispensed as a Private Item.
